Proving You Own the Vehicle

The first thing you'll need for your Vehicles' Certificate of Title as proof of ownership. This requirement can vary slightly depending of where the vehicle was last titled. This mainly applies when you purchased the vehicle from a private party or an out of state auto dealer. In other circumstances, if you bough the vehicle from an out of state dealership and they did not release the title to you to process in Nevada then you will need to provide the Purchase Order from the dealership. For Nevada dealership sales, customers will need to provide the EDRS provided by the Nevada dealership.

Smog Check aka Emissions Testing

Depending on the age of your vehicle, a smog certification may be required. Generally, vehicles over four years old need to pass a smog check to ensure they meet environmental standards. We can help you determine if this applies to your car and point you toward a certified testing station if needed. Hybrid vehicles are exempt from emissions testing for the first five years. Diesel vehicles with a Gross Weight over 14,001 lbs are exempt from testing.

Don't Forget Your Proof of Insurance

Driving without insurance is illegal, so you'll absolutely need to provide proof of current vehicle insurance. A physical or digital copy of your insurance card is perfect. Make sure the policy is active and matches the vehicle you intend to register.
